Character Information

Name: Lisa Lisa (real name: Elizabeth Joestar)
Fandom: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
Canonpoint: From the start of the fight in Chapter 105: Treachery at the Temple of Sacrifice
Gender: Female
Age: 50
Physical Description: Anime design, video game design. Comics design is closest to video game design, basic features consistent across the board.

History: Wiki covers her personal history and her history within the series.

Personality:
“Quiet and cold, as she doesn't open her heart to others. Exteriorized for the first time, after Caesar's death, by shedding tears; but will she open her heart to Jojo?”

Lisa Lisa first appears to Joseph Joestar as a masked gondelier who promptly tests his talents and overwhelms him with her skill before accepting him, unilaterally, as her pupil. That is Lisa Lisa's way: direct, confident, and in command, Lisa Lisa aims to keep herself in reserve until her action is required, at which point she shows no hesitation in getting the job done. When she is instructing her students, Lisa Lisa takes a no-nonsense attitude, clearly not giving a damn what others say or think about her. Joseph calls her an assortment of insulting names and and then some after she drops him into the Hell Climb Pillar—but she leaves him there, in a pit of oil, expecting him to succeed in the test or simply die trying. Joseph believes that she really would leave him there to die, and the audience is not given any reason to believe otherwise, even with their family relationship. As a teacher, Lisa Lisa goes beyond tough: she knows her methods work, so she doesn't hold back on them. With her years of experience, her confidence and self-assurance as a teacher leaves no room for the quibbling of a student. Calling her brutal and ruthless in her methods would be understating.

And indeed, this confidence as a teacher moves over to her confidence as a leader. When the group travels to try to recover the Red Stone of Aja, Lisa Lisa steps up as the de facto leader. The members of the group (often excepting Joseph) generally refer to her before final decisions are made. While she isn't officially in command, her authority as teacher extends to an authority as leader, to the point where she feels she has the position to outright order Caesar not to take a certain action that would jeopardize the overall mission. Even so, she is not outright authoritarian as a leader. She listens to the opinions of those she is with, calling on them for their perspectives and taking them into account before making a final decision, as she does when the team is debating whether or not to enter Cars's stronghold. As a leader, Lisa Lisa is cool, calm, and collected, with her signature sunglasses helping to give off that aura of a Head Bitch In Charge, and the command seems a natural consequence of her skills and abilities. She can assess situations with great skill, being able to identify the breath of many vampires in a room and instantly realizing how she can turn the situation around with a bluff. By staying calm and setting down a trick that holds the one thing their enemy wants over their head, Lisa Lisa is able to turn a situation from two vs hundreds to two versus two: odds that she and Joseph could survive.

When she is not acting as an authority, however, Lisa Lisa often keeps to herself, enjoying tea or a drink of wine in quiet. She is not open with her emotions in this situations, although she can be sociable enough, but she generally maintains an aura of reserve. When someone attempts to pick her pocket during such a moment, she notices this, ignores the man's flirtatious advances, and simply calls on Joseph to take care of the matter as part of her training. She doesn't let anything like that unsettle her cool.

Lisa Lisa is not without a softer, more gentle side. She shows a great deal of quiet fondness for Suzie Q, her assistant/maid, smiling quietly as Suzie Q debates ceaselessly over what dress to set out for Lisa Lisa before at last encouraging her to pick the brightest one. While she is harsh with Joseph and Caesar, her students, she offers very small smiles of approval or pleasure when one of them does something impressive or sweet. In truth, she cares very much about her students (in addition to her familial relationship with Joseph) but keeps these things quiet as their teacher. Tough is what works, after all, and the kindest thing she can do is make them strong to fight. She even wears a smug grin and brags at Cars after Joseph pulls off a particularly clever trick against Wamuu, showing the pride and affection she has for her students. It is likely this affectionateness that has her bring a picture of Erina and the rest of the family that adopted her on a dangerous journey: the token is nothing but sentimental, but she cares deeply for Erina, who saved her, Speedwagon, who looked after her, and Straizo, who raised her. The sentimental attachment for Straizo extends to her admission that her feelings on Joseph defeating Straizo are mixed, for Straizo was a parent to her, after all. Over all, Lisa Lisa keeps these softer and sentimental elements in reserve and quiet. She is careful in opening her heart.

While her cool facade is a necessary aspect of her status as teacher and leader, it can falter in times of distress. At several points, on scenes of horror or surprise, Lisa Lisa shows open alarm, and while Lisa Lisa may try to keep her concern or care for others private, it remains present. When Suzie Q is possessed, Lisa Lisa at first hesitates to attack her, as defeating the Pillar Man who had taken over her body would also kill her. She asks Joseph to do it, and on his refusal, tries to steel herself to do it, before Joseph and Caesar come up with a plan that could save her. In her affection for Suzie Q, her pragmatic response was delayed, clouded by her personal affections. These are emotions she tries to keep private: as Joseph says, as a teacher, she has to maintain authority, even when she wants to cry. However, when Caesar died, she showed her emotionality first in trying to light up her cigarette backwards and second on breaking into tears when Caesar's blood spilled out from under stone. For all her attempts at keeping her emotions under lid, she still has them, and they can break free.

In her younger years, she was clearly much more emotionally rash. When her husband George was murdered, Lisa Lisa didn't wait for a moment after hearing the news before going to kill the zombie responsible, and in doing so, she ended up caught for treason and sent on the run from the British government. Lisa Lisa has greater control over her responses now, as she is able to maintain calm and not immediately attack Wamuu when it would be more tactically sound to do otherwise (she even advises Joseph not to let his emotions get the better of him) but this violent response to distress seems to still be there. After Caesar's death, she tells a vampire in their way that she's “in a bad mood” and kills it without flinching. Lisa Lisa may have a better control over her emotions than she once did, but they are still there, and she has the skills to make them dangerous.

Much of this emotional control facilitates Lisa Lisa's main motivation: to stop the evil of the Pillar Men and the Stone Masks that left her an orphan, took her husband from her, drove her adopted father mad, killed her student, and threatened her son as well. The evil of vampires and ancient men has brought a great deal of pain in the world, and she intends on bringing it to an end. When Joseph comes to her for help, she tells him that she isn't helping him for his own sake: she's helping so she can make him a warrior to defeat their enemies. This may not be strictly true (Joseph is her son) but the core principle remains. Defeating the enemy is everything. She holds a strong sense of duty and obligation to this task set before her, choosing to guard the Red Stone because of ancient legend that it would help defeat the Pillar Men. She even tells Caesar to hold back on his own sense of revenge when it could jeopardize the overall mission. She understands revenge well, but in the years since her husband's death, she has focused herself on the greater task. In her sense of duty, she is able to accept Straizo's death at Joseph's hands as tragic, but fate. Straizo succumbed to his fears of ageing and so had to be stopped, for he had become a the very kind of monster he had trained her to destroy.

Lisa Lisa hasn't neglected her life outside of duty entirely: while she has become focused on defeating the Pillar Men since her husband's death and her forced exile, before, she was happy to raise her son and live a pleasant life, and even now, she enjoys fashion and taking baths. Reserved and cold as a warrior, she is quiet but kind as a person, and outside of the constant threat of evil, she has the capacity to step away from the fight and lead a civilian life.

But as long as there is a threat at hand, Lisa Lisa will face it with force and determination. Evil in the world must be stopped: come Hell or high water, Lisa Lisa will make sure of it.

Abilities:

Physical Abilities
Trained in physical combat and having practiced extensively over the past fifty years, Lisa Lisa is a formidable warrior in her own right.
✾ Perceptiveness: Lisa Lisa shows high perceptiveness, attending to minor details, including hearing quiet breathing that Joseph had missed and easily identifying how many lungs were moving. She's skilled at reading her enemies' intentions and otherwise has high awareness of her surroundings. (Except when getting jobbed by Cars.)
✾ Acrobatics: Lisa Lisa is shown to be highly acrobatic, knowing how to do a variety of acrobatic stunts in combat and in kicking around her poor new trainees.
✾ Combat: Naturally, Lisa Lisa is an excellent martial artist, skilled in attacking opponents with the minimal amount of energy to take them down. Even without Ripple energy, she is formidable in a fight, and her grace in attacking enemies is commented on.

Ripple Abilities (Hamon)
The Ripple, while treated as a trained ability in this universe, is basically a power that channels a kind of life energy: the energy of the sun. Careful respiration allows the energy that circles through a body to build upon itself into stronger and stronger energy. These 'ripples' of solar energy are particularly used to destroy sun-hating creatures (JJBA vampires, zombies, etc) but can also be used to affect the non-living or ordinary humans, although Ripple energy won't hurt a human at the same level as it would a vampire. Anything that interferes with breathing or blood circulation prevents the Ripple from functioning. Ripple-conducting materials include any organic matter (anything that was formerly living), liquids, and metals. Ripple, if applied creatively, can do a lot of ridiculous things following its main principles of attraction, repulsion, and manipulation. As Ripple is generated from within the body and can't be transmitted through air, any use of Ripple requires contact (direct or indirect) with the user.

Lisa Lisa is a Ripple Master, having trained under Straizo and later chosing to train others including Caesar and Joseph.
✾ Attraction/Repulsion: Ripple energy can be used to repel or attract materials, as if positively or negatively charged. Ripple can be used to attract objects, letting people climb up surfaces covered in Ripple (like oil-covered pillars) and can also be used to repel materials (like repelling razor-sharp jets of oil by pushing it away from the body).
✾ Object Manipulation: Lisa Lisa can use the Ripple to manipulate liquid, kicking it up and keeping it flowing in place so she can make a high bar out of an oar, walking on water, or climbing liquid-soaked walls. Liquids are ideal conductors of the Ripple, so Lisa Lisa is particularly good at working with it. This manipulation can extend to even being able to control the movement of living beings, as Caesar does with a human and Joseph does with a pigeon. Organic matter is particularly easy to manipulate.
✾ Healing: Ripple can be used to heal living things. When Will Zeppeli makes Jonathan start breathing along the Ripple method, his broken bones heal almost immediately. That Ripple energy can also cause flowers to bloom and dead plants to sprout back to life.
✾ Memory Retrieval: Lisa Lisa can use the Ripple as a kind of hypnosis, helping people retrieve from their memories for things they did while not conscious of their actions.
✾ Youthfulness: As Ripple energy is life energy, someone who trains extensively with it ages at a slower rate. That's why, despite being fifty, Lisa Lisa looks about twenty or so.
✾ Combat: With Ripple-infused attacks, Lisa Lisa can fight at an even higher strength. Ripple increases strength of force even ordinarily, although it is particularly strong against creatures weak against sunlight. Lisa Lisa is particularly practiced in using the Ripple in combat and primarily uses a scarf made of sathiphorosia beetle shells, meaning that it has 100% Ripple conductivity and is highly effective as a weapon against vampires. Her combat style heavily integrates the properties of Ripple into it.

Teacher Abilities
✾ Hardcore: With a no-nonsense attitude and an extreme level of expectation from her students, Lisa Lisa's teaching technique proves to help her students dramatically through the sheer intensity of her methods.

Cool Kid Abilities
✾ Swagger: Cool kids don't look at disintegrating vampires.
